From The Board

A common topic before the Board is the continued abuse of the pool rest rooms. Toilet paper stripped from the holders is strung about the floor. and stuffed in sinks and commodes. In like manner the soap dispensers are upended, and the towel dispensers provide similar entertainment.

Years ago the showers were disconnected due to similar abuse. Now the showers will be completely closed off as they have become secondary urinals and trash receptacles.

Strangely, this is a private pool used by homeowners. Hopefully, it will not be necessary to utilize Port-A-Potties as a final solution.

Update to Pond Lake Rules

Effective July 15, 2010, the Pond Lake Rules were revised as follows:

12. No craft may be left on the lake or its shoreline overnight, either anchored, beached, or hauled out in the vicinity of the lake. Fines may be levied for non-compliance.

Heretofore, we have had few instances of craft being left on the lake. In the days of our yacht club there was a common agreement among those boat owners to not do so. Over time that set a precedent. In an instance of apparent abandonment by unknown boat owners, craft will be removed.

One issue that has supported this practice is the simple risk to the owner’s boat being damaged or lost. Secondly, a plethora of boats left lying around detracts from our mission to maintain the esthetic value of the community. Third, homeowner boats left on the lake may present a liability risk to the Association.

Underlying the need to leave a craft at the lake may be an owner’s wish to avoid the labor to take the boat out and transport it home. A boat ramp at the west end of the lake facilitates those with larger trailered boats. Others with smaller craft such as a kayak or canoe utilize small, “golf cart” type trailers to transport their craft.

Notices & Reminders

The Pond Lake Rules have been revised. Please see related article for more information.

Do you know where your trash container is? It may be where it should not be. Specifically, if it is visible from the street, it is exposed. Exposed, that is to the covenants of the Association and the City of Arvada Code Enforcement. Both stipulate trash containers must stored out of sight. Your trash container may be on display twenty-four hours prior to and during the day of pick-up. Does your exposed trash container really represent your home?
